Congratulations to the Writer's Eye 2020 award winners!
Now in its 34th year, Writer’s Eye is an annual literary competition that challenges writers of all ages to use visual art as inspiration for the creation of original poetry and prose. Each year we select several works of art for Writer’s Eye, and interactive tours of the art selections are offered from September through November. Due to pre-planned building work carried out by the University this fall, Writer’s Eye “tours” were conducted by Zoom all through the fall—117 conversations with school groups from 30 schools—and we received nearly 600 entries. Entries were judged by distinguished writers from central Virginia, including Lauren K. Alleyne and Caroline Preston. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winning entries are published in the annual Writer's Eye anthology.
